As you can see on title today’s blog post is about Benton’s recent new release. It is Benton Cacao Mist and Mild Serum. Before I share my thought of this product. I will tell a little story about this brand first.
Benton is a South Korea beauty brand. ‘Benton’ name is inspired by the movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ in which Benjamin Button grows younger with time. In the movie, Benjamin has no choice but to leave his love, Daisy as he becomes younger. What if Daisy could also turn back time on her physical appearance, wouldn’t she be happier? It may be just a fictional movie, but wouldn’t most people have same desire to be young again?
Benton desires to restore your skin back to its original, healthy condition with healthy recipes, rather than to give temporary effects with harmful ingredients. Also, Benton presents freshly made products by sticking to small batch production.
I haven’t watch that movie, but based on that synopsis I have watched a similar one. It’s from Japanese movie ‘I’ll Date The Tomorrow You’, where the girl as the main cast is growing younger. The story is odd and sad at the same time.
Not only sticking to small batch production, to make sure the consumer always get a fresh product. Benton also certified by PETA. So all Benton products are not tested on animal. They also use natural preservatives which are extracted by the ultrasonic extract method from C&B Cosmetic’s special technology. This natural preservative is not only effective in skincare but also doesn’t cause irritation pr stimulation to the skin. But, yeah since every skin condition is unique, don’t ever forget to patch test first!

A hydrating and nourishing serum that is smoothly absorbed into the skin. The serum is suitable for dry skin and skin with poor oil-water balance Hyaluronic Acid hydrates and minerals from high cacao content nourish skin. This product comes with a box in similar color like the cream from the same line. It’s looking nice! Information un English and Korean also printed on box side by side. They also stated the manufactured and expired date, but do remember you must use this product within 6 months since the first time you open the product. I’m sure I will finish this soon in 2 next weeks, because all serums I’ve tried before with volume 30ml always finish in 3 to 5 weeks, it’s about 30% left now.
Now, let’s talk about the bottle of the serum. The serum is housed in a small transparent plastic bottle with a dropper in white color. I like the bottle packaging because I can see how many contents left inside. But it’s hard to squeeze the dropper, I need to squeeze few times so I can get enough serum to use.
Once I opened and squeeze the serum into the palm of my hand, I don’t detect any scent. This product got plus one because I always prefer unscented skincare. The texture is a watery gel, it absorbs really fast without leaving tacky and sticky feeling.
As you can see from ingredient list this product is rich in Cacao. Cacao extract is rich in antioxidant polyphenols and minerals, Cacao Extract moisturizes and keeps skin supple and smooth. Cacao Seed is extracted from the seed of cacao tree with the function to reduces harmful oxygen in the skin and makes skin healthy. Cacao Flower Extract is one of the key moisturizing ingredients besides Sodium Hyaluronate. All ingredients are rated 1 on EWG and you can see the benefit of each ingredient below, taken from SkinCarisma.
On my combination skin, this serum is not enough to use it on its own, but I’m sure our skincare step doesn’t stop at serum, right? I use this every day and night after applying hydrating toner then followed with cream to seal everything. It’s formula make it suitable for layering and to use it anytime, suitable for Indonesia humid condition as it’s not thick or too thin. Perfect to use for all seasons!
I do feel the difference on my skin after I added this product as part of my everyday skincare routine. It boosts the hydration and nourishes my skin too. My skin feels plumper, bouncier and I don’t need to spray face mist again in the middle of the day. I do notice my skin look glossy after few weeks using this. Want more surprise? I use the cream from the same line for few days (because I got few samples), my skin feels supple when I wake up.
